KeepAlive: Circumventing Exchange-Enforced Auto-Keylock

For those of your fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to be running Direct Push off a company-policed Exchange server; there might be instances in which company policies (or just plain inflexible IT personnel) might select the "auto-lock" option and enforce it as a policy on your device.
Nothing wrong with that - except that the minimum password length has been set to 12 characters! So you are now forced to re-enter your password EVERY time your pocket pc device switches itself off automatically. So since the policy was really targetted at those careless blokes from Sales, you wonder if there is any way around this pain on your fingertips. And yes, there is!
Well, Jussi have cooked up a nifty little utility to do exactly just that. By inserting a call-back on device boot-up, AutoLock2 is able to detect whenever your beloved Windows Mobile device receives the annoying auto-keylock policy from Exchange. Upon detection of this change, it will immediately re-write the appropriate registry entry to disable auto-keylock so that this setting never ever kicks in! Simple right?
- Setup File can be downloaded direct from Mobility Today here.
This is a native application and should be able to run fine as it is. You can get additional information about this application here.
As usual, as this is a 3rd party software developed independantly from TechatPlay, no warranties expressed or implied is provided. Use at your own risk.
