Setting Up Direct Push Via The Desktop

Powered by Gregarious (42)

There are two ways of setting up Direct Push. You can either configure it directly from your mobile handheld Pocket PC wirelessly, or when tethered to your desktop PC.  The following walk-through describes setting up Direct Push via the desktop option where no prior pairing has been done.

  1. Desktop PC screen with ActiveSync installed and prior to initial synchronization

  2. Prompt to perform initial pairing between Pocket PC and ActiveSync

  5. Detailed dialog to set various Direct Push synchronization options.  Note that it is possible to synchronize Contacts, Calendar and Task OTA (Over-the-air) as well.  Here, we choose to synchronize only e-mail direct with Exchange Server.

  6. Further define additional detailed rules for Direct Push e-mail.  Note that "Select Folder" is greyed out.  It will become available after the first synchronization.  By default, only the "INBOX" will be selected this time round.
