I can’t believe I almost missed out on this. The Windows Mobile 6.0 Reference Guide is now out and available for download from Microsoft courtesy of Jason Langridge.
Jason is working in Microsoft as a senior marketing manager of the Mobile And Embedded Devices Division. In short, he’s one of the key person who would know about everything and anything upcoming on Microsoft’s handheld platform, Windows Mobile. His blog is always the place to look out for the latest information on Windows Mobile.
Essentially, why you would want a Windows Mobile 6.0 device running off Exchange 2007 is due to a nice list of new features that Microsoft managed to squeeze in. Some might argue that the features are merely “evolutionary” in nature, but I would say that they are definitely very nice features to have.
Summarizing, with Windows Mobile 6.0 and Exchange 2007, you get partial (incremental) sync, which will probably help those without unlimited traffic as well as provide a nice speed boast to loading e-mails. (Windows Mobile 5.0 and Exchange 2003 cannot perform an incremental download). Another of the very cool feature would be server-based e-mail search. Considering that Direct Push gives you access to all of your personal Exchange folders, it is not a feature to scoff at.
If you are too lazy to ready up the whooping 61-page reference, you are welcome to take a look at what I wrote a short while back: Examining Exchange 2007: The Future of Direct Push
